Bereavement Support Volunteer

Are you compassionate and want to make a difference in the lives of people who are grieving?

If so, consider volunteering as a bereavement support volunteer at Local Access Centre.

As a bereavement support volunteer, you will provide one-on-one support to people who have lost a loved one.

You will meet with them weekly, in person.

Your role will be to listen to them, offer support and encouragement and help them to cope with their grief.

We are open to hearing from volunteers who have lived through personal circumstances which they feel have given them a foundation from which to support others. This is not a requirement though.

Local Access Centre's clientele is predominately those of Pakistani and/or Kashmiri heritage and English will be an additional language. Ideally; we are all looking for those who can communicate well in these languages: Urdu, Mirpuri, Hindko and Punjabi.  It would be advantageous if volunteers have a good understanding of the faith, cultural and societal norms of the clientele Local Access Centre serves.

All volunteers will be required to undergo DBS and reference checks and will receive supportive onboarding training.

We are a well-established charity with an excellent reputation in our local community. Our organisational values are: Community, Trust, Compassion, Courage and Excellence. We believe that our volunteers and clients deserve the very best support and we are committed to providing it.
